Overview

New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) The New Jersey Department of Health leads the state’s response to public health challenges and works to improve health outcomes for all New Jersey residents. Through its three primary branches—Public Health Services, Health Systems, and Integrated Health—the Department collaborates across programs and partners to strengthen New Jersey’s health system. Guided by its mission to protect public health, promote healthy communities, and improve the quality of health care, the Department supports initiatives that advance prevention, system integration, and equitable access to health services statewide. Healthcare Preparedness Program The Hospital Preparedness Program funding opportunity reflects a whole-community approach to preparing for future threats to public health. The New Jersey Department of Health, with guidance from ASPR-HPP, is responsible for ensuring New Jersey can effectively prepare for and respond to emergencies that impact the public’s health. Using HPP funds, NJDOH is responsible for ensuring the state’s capacity to build medical surge through the creation, maintenance, and growth of strong and fiscally sound healthcare coalitions. HCCs incentivize and support diverse and often competitive health care organizations with differing priorities and objectives to work together to save lives. The TPFA, supporting HCCs, should build on and prioritize outcomes, coordination and connectivity, and flexibility to strengthen preparedness and response planning in New Jersey.
