Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)

Federally funded program authorized by Section 404 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. Assists states, local governments, private non-profit organizations, and Indian Tribes in implementing long-term hazard mitigation measures following a major disaster declaration. Eligible project types include acquisition, elevation, wind retrofit, flood control/drainage improvement, generators, hurricane safe rooms, tornado safe rooms, wildfire mitigation, drought mitigation, and utility mitigation. Applicants must be eligible entities (Government Entities, Private Non-Profit Organizations, or Indian Tribes) and have projects approved by their county's Local Mitigation Strategy Working Group (LMSWG).
