Harris & Frances Block Foundation Grant

The Harris and Frances Block Foundation, established in 2001, supports small grassroots organizations focused on social and environmental justice. They prioritize equitable solutions and sustainable community development, funding initiatives related to environmental education, justice, and food security. Grants are available to non-profit, tax-exempt organizations in specific geographical areas including Vermont, North Carolina, Virginia, and New York City, excluding funding for lobbying, land acquisition, and scholarships.

NOTE: We review letters of inquiry on a continual basis, projects that fit within the foundation’s priority areas will be asked to prepare a full proposal for consideration by the foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Eligibility

Grants will only be awarded to non-profit, tax-exempt organizations or groups that work through a tax-exempt organization.We focus our grantmaking in the geographical locations of our Board of Trustees:Vermont, North Carolina, Virginia, and New York City.

Tax-exempt nonprofits (or groups fiscally sponsored by one) in Vermont, North Carolina, Southwest Virginia, or New York City. First step is a Letter of Inquiry via the foundation's portal; full proposals by invitation.
