Program Type: Two-year fellowship position

Geographic Scope: Texas (based in San Antonio with frequent travel to Austin)

Overview:
An exciting opportunity for recent master's level graduates seeking hands-on experience impacting state-level policy through research, education, and networking. The fellow works closely with an experienced mentor at the Foundation and participates in the Hogg Foundation's Policy Academy.

Key Features:

• High-capacity experiences in networking and direct contact with legislators, their staff members, various coalitions, research organizations, and state agency staffers
• Located in the San Antonio office of the H. E. Butt Foundation
• Requires frequent travel to Austin
• Fellows develop strengths, skills, and relationships for future policy effectiveness

Focus Areas:

• Policy concentrations aligned with the H. E. Butt Foundation values
• Mental health policy (Foundation notes: "Mental health issues are growing at epidemic proportions")

Eligibility:

• Recent master's level graduate (completed degree within past 24 months)
• Degree in social work, law, public policy, public health, or other graduate program with policy emphasis

The H. E. Butt Foundation is a thriving Texas-based operating foundation focused on providing wholeness for individuals and institutions. Headquartered in Kerrville, Texas, with additional offices in Leakey and San Antonio. The Foundation runs five camping and retreat programs on a 1,900-acre property in the Texas Hill Country and focuses on community engagement initiatives for families and children in San Antonio, Kerrville, and Real County.
