Guardian Credit Union Scholarship Program

Overview: Guardian Credit Union awards scholarships to support student members pursuing their educational goals.

Award Details:

  • Amount: $2,500 per scholarship

  • Number of Awards: 15 scholarships annually

  • Total Annual Funding: $37,500
  • Geographic Scope: Members of Guardian Credit Union who live, work, worship, or attend school in one of 16 Alabama counties: Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Coffee, Coosa, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, and Tallapoosa

    Focus Areas: Education support for high school seniors and undergraduate college students

      Eligibility

      Each applicant must:
    • Be a member of Guardian Credit Union with at least a savings and checking account prior to submitting an application
    • Be a senior in high school or undergraduate in college (Masters or Doctorate students are ineligible)
    • Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate college or university for the fall semester
    • Submit a high school transcript of grades (if high school senior) or most recent college transcript (for undergrads)
    • Not be a past recipient of a Guardian scholarship (Students may only receive one Guardian scholarship)

    Application Period: March 1 - March 31 (annually)

    Award Notification: Recipients announced in the week of April 13

    Recognition: Recipients honored at Guardian Day at the Biscuits at Riverwalk Stadium (3rd Annual Guardian Day scheduled for April 26, 2026)

    Application Process:
    1. Review student eligibility requirements
    2. Gather required documents (see Scholarship Packet Checklist below)
    3. Complete the online application
    4. Request letter of recommendation from someone other than family
    5. Request transcript from counselor via email
    6. Once both documents are submitted, application is officially completed

    Scholarship Packet Checklist - Required Documents:

  • Completed Scholarship Application (online)

  • Essay: 300-500 words

  • One letter of recommendation (from someone other than a family member)

  • High school report card or college transcript including cumulative GPA

  • Letter of acceptance to college of choice

  • School name and address for fund disbursement
  • Application Deadline: March 31 (annually)
