The Craven Community College Foundation established this scholarship endowment in memory of Gregory Fitzgerald Smith, a well-known community leader, Craven CC Foundation board member, and owner of Mitchell Hardware. The endowment was approved by the Foundation's executive leadership committee on February 8, 2018.

Background

Gregory Fitzgerald Smith passed away suddenly on January 29, 2018. At the time of his death, he was serving as a Craven CC board member and chair of the Craven CC Foundation's Community Campaign. Smith was a recipient of the 2014 Community Fabric Award (CFA) for Business Leadership.
