Great Friend to Kids Award
Funder: Association of Children's Museums (ACM)
Status: Award presented annually
Purpose: Initiated in 1991 to honor individuals or institutions that have made a national and/or international impact to strengthen the education and lives of children.
Geographic Scope: National and/or international impact
Eligible Nominees: Past awardees include policy makers, researchers, educators, and activists from around the world
- Individual recipients and representatives of institutional recipients are presented their award at ACM's annual conference, InterActivity
- Awardees are invited to address InterActivity attendees at a plenary session
Recognition
- 2023: Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, PhD – For outstanding contributions to understanding the development of early language and literacy and the role of play in learning; Lefkowitz Faculty Fellow in Psychology at Temple University and Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution; translational researcher and author of 16 books
- 2022: PBS KIDS – For outstanding impact on the lives of children, building knowledge, critical thinking, imagination, and curiosity through partnerships with parents, teachers, caregivers, and communities
