Gorman Foundation Grants Established with a generous bequest in 2003, The Gorman Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for present and future generations and serves as the living legacy of Owen T. Gorman, Catherine “Kay” Cummings Gorman and Alice M. Gorman. We award grants to organizations that are within our geographic focus and areas of interest. Organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code and cannot be classified as private foundations under Section 509(a) of the Code. In select cases, we may consider support for special projects sponsored by governmental entities. Areas of Interest Social Welfare Programs and services designed to help people in need gain access to healthcare, education, food, and shelter Community Education & Enhancement Educational or recreational outreach programs, musical performances, or historical preservation efforts. The Environment Efforts to support local farming, preserve wildlife or rehabilitate animals.

Ineligibility

The Gorman Foundation will not award grant support to organizations that, in their constitution, bylaws or practices, discriminate against a person or group on the basis of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or religious belief. Grantees may target services to a particular population when the targeted groups require specialized programs to meet specific needs not shared by the general population.We do not award grants to individuals; debt reduction drives; or for lobbying activities as defined by the Internal Revenue Service.
