Goddard/PEN North American Centers Scholarship

Status: Active partnership program established fall 2017

Award Amount: $10,000 annual scholarship

Description: A partnership between Goddard College and PEN America, PEN Canada, PEN Mexico, and PEN Center USA to support creative writers committed to freedom of expression.

Geographic Scope: North America (US, Canada, Mexico)

Eligible Programs:

Goddard College's low-residency MFA in Creative Writing Program

BFA in Creative Writing Program (for applicants without bachelor's degree)

Additional Awards for PEN Members:

MFA Goddard Engaged Artist Award: $2,000 one-time award for MFA applicants not receiving the scholarship

BFA Goddard Engaged Artist Award: $1,000 one-time award for all admitted BFA applicants

Eligibility:

Must be member in good standing of PEN America, PEN Canada, PEN Mexico, or PEN Center USA

For MFA: Standard admission requirements apply

For BFA: May not hold bachelor's degree; must otherwise meet admission criteria

Award Distribution: $10,000 dispersed in two payments over first two consecutive terms of enrollment
