Gift Programs

Organization: American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens (AFP&CC), a program of the United States Law Enforcement Foundation, Inc.

Geographic Scope: Nationwide (United States and Puerto Rico)

Program Description: Remembering the children, spouses and parents of fallen officers with gifts throughout the year is a core part of AFP&CC's work. The organization operates "The North Pole," a physical facility and program established in 1989 to coordinate and deliver gifts to survivor families.

The North Pole Gift Program

Established: 1989

Participants: Over 900 children from almost every state in the United States and Puerto Rico, plus thousands of spouses and parents

Scope: In 2016, gifts, ornaments and cards were sent to more than 13,000 survivor children, parents and spouses

Gift Categories

Birthday Gifts:

  • The North Pole handles birthday gifts for each child and young person in the program

  • Available to children ages 0 to 17 years old
  • Holiday Gifts:

  • Peak activity occurs September and October

  • All children and young people ages 0 to 17 within the program receive specially selected gifts during the holiday season

  • Parents receive holiday cards and unique ornament gifts
  • Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day Remembrances:

  • AFP&CC sends cards and small mementos to surviving parents on Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day

  • Recognizes their loss and provides comfort on difficult days
  • Anniversary Gifts:

  • On the one-year anniversary of the officer's death and each year thereafter, AFP&CC sends a gift of remembrance to honor the fallen hero and comfort the family
  • Eligibility:

  • Children, spouses, and parents of police officers killed in the line of duty

  • Ages 0 to 17 years old (for birthday and holiday gifts)
