Gesa Local Heroes Grant

The Gesa Local Heroes Grant empowers organizations that support essential community workers, including firefighters, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, educators, and veterans. Through the Local Heroes affinity debit card, Gesa members contribute funds that are distributed as grants. The amount awarded is determined by the funds raised in the previous year, with grants given annually in October. This program fosters community support and recognition for those who serve.

With every swipe of a Local Heroes affinity debit card, Gesa members earn funds designated for grants in that card’s Local Heroes category (Firefighters, Healthcare Workers, Law Enforcement, Educators, and Veterans).
The Local Heroes Grants Program awards these funds to eligible organizations that support Local Heroes in our communities.
The funding varies depending on the amount raised the prior year through the Local Heroes affinity debit card. Grants are awarded in October.

Eligibility

To qualify for a Local Heroes Grant, an organization must provide proof that the requested funds will support Firefighters, Healthcare Workers, Law Enforcement, Educators, or Veterans in our community.

Ineligibility

Grants will not be awarded for the following:
Activities, groups, or events not in a Gesa CommunityAdministrative expensesProjects whose primary purpose is religious or politicalOrganizations where funds would be used for the purpose of building assets or capital Sponsorship requests that benefit or fund a single individuals’ participation in an event or activityRequests that benefit a private, for-profit business or private business owner
