George F. Davis Memorial Grant for Continuing Education

Funder: NATAS Mid-America Foundation

Purpose: Support continuing education, training, and skill development for media professionals to help them succeed in the broadcast business.

Award Amount: Up to $1,500

Geographic Scope: Mid-America region

Eligibility:

  • Active NATAS Mid-America members (membership required)

  • Media professionals

  • Seeking to further education/training/skill set in broadcast business

  • Example Funded Programs:

  • The Poynter Institute (storytelling, fact-checking, leadership skills)

  • NPPA (Advanced Storytelling, News Video Workshop)

  • IRE (Investigative Reporting)

  • NICAR (National Institute for Computer Assisted Reporting)

  • SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers; certification, leadership, mentorship)

  • SBJ (Ethics, diversity, FOI issues, race and gender issues)

  • NABJ (Digital workshops, webinars, summits, technical training, conferences)

  • Loyola (Master Class for Media Managers - online)
  • Background: Through the generosity of Carol Jackson, a former broadcast technician, the grant is awarded in the name of the late KETC Engineer George F. Davis.

    - Agree to provide written proof of course/training completion

    - Application reviewed by Professional Development Committee members
    - Recipients notified by September 20
