• George Goodin had a career in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1964 as a chief warrant officer IV
• Because of his military experience and their shared devotion to Napa Valley, the Goodins created a permanent scholarship fund

Eligibility

• Military veterans who are Napa County residents
• Dependents of military veterans who died while in active duty
• Pursuing college or university education

Recent Recipients (2013)

• Bobby Aguilar - used funds for EMT/paramedic program supplies
• Ryan Joel B. Mintalar - supported transition from military to civilian life
• Four other recipients (all attended Napa Valley College)
• One recipient was a resident of The Pathway Home program (residential treatment for veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries)

Veteran Population in Napa County

• Approximately 11,000 veterans
• 1,500 with service-connected disabilities
• 218 veterans enrolled at Napa Valley College

• Volunteer committee comprised of local veterans and professionals who work with veterans
• Committee determines guidelines and makes award decisions
• Run on an annual basis
