Designed to develop five model shelters across the United States, each representing a different shelter structure regularly found in the U.S., including:

Government-funded shelters

Award Amount: $5,000 per selected shelter

Key Program Features:

Five model shelters selected nationwide

Selection based on demographics including rural and urban areas serving large and small populations

One year of expert guidance provided to help expand and sustain humane and effective programs for cats

Grantee progress and experiences documented as case studies to inform other shelters

Focus Areas:

Lifesaving programs for cats including:

- Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)
- Foster home networks
- Neutering before adoption
- Access to low-cost spay/neuter services

Eligibility:

Animal shelters that have made commitment to design and adopt humane programs for cats

Shelters showing evidence of TNR implementation or commitment
