Native American Initiatives The Native American Affairs Program supports education, open communication, community / social projects and other initiatives in collaboration with Tribal Nations located near Freeport-McMoRan’s active or discontinued operations. Native American Partnership Fund Priority Areas Freeport-McMoRan is committed to “Transforming Tomorrow Together” which means working with communities where we operate to build resiliency and wellbeing that helps ensure communities and people can thrive over the life of our mines and beyond. Our approach for delivering on this commitment is based on three priority areas and respective social impacts to help us determine success. Education and Workforce DevelopmentResilient PeopleIncrease educational attainment and skills necessary to drive inclusive economic participation and mobility, and adaptation to a changing future of work that can be sustained or transferred beyond mining.Economic Opportunity Resilient EconomiesStrengthen local supports critical to driving economic opportunities, growth, and diversification, ultimately decreasing dependency and increasing resilienceCapacity and Leadership Resilient Organizations and SystemsIncrease individual and institutional ability to lead and implement efforts that maximize the benefits of mining, create resilience to socio-economic and environmental disruptions, and plan for the future. Priority Social Impacts A project must address one of the Social Impacts identified below to be eligible to receive investment from Freeport-McMoRan. Eligibility:Hualapai TribeSan Carlos Apache TribeTohono O’odham NationWhite Mountain Apache Tribe and nonprofit organizations working with these tribes.The maximum indirect cost allowed by the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation is 6% of direct project costs.

Ineligibility

Requests to provide 100% of a project cost or budget should not be submitted, unless the project is part of a larger overall budget of which the requested project funding is just one part.Funds will not be awarded to the following: Organizations that do not have 501c-3 or other non-profit status as designated by the IRSFoundations that intend to re-grant the funds Requests for individuals, including those for travel support, teams that are restrictive in participation (such as All Star teams), or anything else that benefits a single individual or a very limited number of individuals. Advertising efforts Fraternal, labor or veteran organizations/activities limited to organization membershipReligious activities, churches or church sponsored activities limited to church membership Political or lobbying activities Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status
