Note: The deadline to submit nominations for the current year is the third Friday in May. Background The Foundation for Improvement of Justice, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit organization that was founded for the purpose of improving local, state and federal systems of justice. Our mission is to recognize innovative and effective works and/or programs whose efforts have made positive influential differences in the United States criminal and civil judicial arenas. Our intent is to encourage further improvement in the various systems of justice in the United States through both recognition and reward. Awards Program The Foundation accepts nominations of individuals and/or organizations who have contributed unique improvements to the civil or criminal justice systems within the United States. Annual award winners are chosen based solely on the blind nomination. The number of winners selected each year is based on a percentage of the nominations received. The award package includes: a Paul H. Chapman Medal, a check for $15,000, a framed certificate, and an expenses paid trip to the awards banquet in Atlanta, Georgia. Please note that these are awards for successful accomplishments inclusive of innovative programs which have proven effective and can serve as models for others. Recipients are not required to render any further services as a condition of receiving an award. Eligibility

Nominations are accepted year round from all 50 states and D.C.

Ineligibility

The Foundation does NOT provide grants for future projects, anticipated works, nor scholarships for desired aspirations.Members of neither the Foundation nor their relatives are eligible for recognition.In addition, previous award recipients are not eligible for consideration.
