Follow the Supply Chain Study Abroad Program Sponsorship

Award Amount: $2,500 sponsorship per student

Geographic Scope: Washington State (multi-college program); includes travel to Vietnam

Focus Areas: Supply chain and logistics education, international study abroad

Eligibility:

Students from participating Washington community colleges:

- Tacoma Community College
- Wenatchee Valley College
- Lake Washington Technical College
- Highline College
- North Seattle College

Students interested in supply chain and logistics

Program aims for diverse representation, particularly targeting students from lower-income families

Program Details:

Partnership with the Center of Excellence for Global Trade and Supply Chain Management

15 students total from the five colleges participate

Program cost to students: $600 (heavily subsidized)

Includes spring virtual programs with industry speakers and Vietnam experts

August/September travel to Vietnam, Wenatchee, and Seattle area

Students follow specific products (Brooks Sports shoes and Washington apples) through the supply chain

Activities include:

- Tours of ports, factories, and wholesale markets in Vietnam
- Meetings with U.S. Consulate
- Interaction with peer students at Vietnamese universities
- Tours of Brooks Sports facilities in Washington
- Visits to apple packaging facilities and orchards in Wenatchee
- Company visits in Washington learning about supply chain, trade compliance, and logistics

Background: Program began in 2019. The TCT sponsorship helps ensure diverse student participation by reducing financial barriers to study abroad experiences.
