    Geographic Scope

Georgia statewide - Focus on low-income and rural areas where need is greatest

      Funding Purpose

All grant funds are for spay/neuter use only. Grants enable organizations to offer free or low-cost spay/neuter programs to:
    • Combat pet overpopulation (Georgia ranks as one of top 5 states contributing to shelter animal euthanasia - 20,000 animals euthanized in 2023)
    • Reduce strain on animal shelters and rescue organizations
    • Address public health and safety concerns from stray animals
    • Provide education and outreach on spay/neuter benefits

      Eligibility

    • Eligible applicants: Nonprofit organizations seeking grant funds specifically for spay/neuter programs
    • Ineligible applicants: Government-based organizations (referred to Georgia Department of Agriculture assistance instead)
    • Applications reviewed based on: good business practices, reputation, and urgent need

      What They Fund

    • Spay/neuter surgeries and programs
    • Community spay/neuter initiatives
    • Low-cost or free spay/neuter service provision

      What They Don't Fund

    • Non-spay/neuter uses
    • Government organizations

      Additional Context

Fix Georgia Pets has been operational since 2012. Past grant recipients include:
    • Good Mews (spayed/neutered 340 cats in 2023)
    • The Rescue Ranch in McRae (performed 3,040 surgeries in 2023; over 32,602 total since 2009)
    • Planned PEThood of Georgia (achieved 10,000th surgery milestone; became official partner February 2024)

Grant program funding comes from annual fundraising events (Spring Wine Fling, Annual Gala, Golf Tournament) and Georgia Pet Foundation license tag sales.
