First Responder Life-Saving Equipment Initiative

Geographic Scope: Permian Basin region across 27 counties, including Texas and New Mexico

Overview:
A five-year, $5 million initiative completed by the Permian Road Safety Coalition in partnership with the Permian Strategic Partnership. The program addressed the unique challenges faced by first responders in the rural and remote Permian Basin, where response times for emergency medical services can be measured in hours rather than minutes.

Focus Areas:

  • Providing life-saving equipment and tools for first-on-scene responders

  • Enabling immediate aid to crash victims

  • Supporting first responder capabilities in vehicle crash response
  • Achievements:

  • Served 82 departments across 27 counties

  • Distributed over 7,000 pieces of equipment

  • Provided equipment for new rescue truck purchased by Loving County, Texas

  • Supported matching funds for BUILD Grant for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to build critical overpass project on Hwy. 302 and Hwy. 115 in Kermit, Texas

  • Provided support to Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation (DPS)
