Festival Creative Assistantship

Overview

The Festival Creative Assistantship is a distinctive program designed for early-career professionals to participate as assistants in the development of new musicals at the NAMT Festival of New Musicals. Now in its eighth year, this program supports the next generation of leaders in musical theatre by offering early-career theatre-makers from underserved groups the opportunity to be part of the NAMT Festival process from start to finish.

  • Each festival musical is matched with a Creative Assistant working in one of these two areas.

    Program Goals

    • Diverse Exposure: Work closely with experienced directors and music directors
    • First-Hand Experience: Gain insights into the new musical development process
    • Networking and Learning: Attend select NAMT Fall Conference professional & educational panels and network with industry leaders
    • Professional Development: Be present for all rehearsals, sound checks and presentations
    • Mentorship: Receive guidance from seasoned professionals
    • Membership: Complimentary one-year NAMT membership
