Fellow Scholars Program

The SGS Fellow Scholars Program, initiated in 2014, is supported by the Nancy Frankel & Lennie Siegel fund and the Dee F. Fenner Education Fund. The program fosters the next generation of surgeons by providing access to education and mentorship opportunities within SGS.

Geographic Scope: United States and Canada

Target Audience: Gynecology fellows currently registered in both accredited and non-accredited programs

Eligibility Requirements

• Not yet an SGS member
• Have not attended an SGS meeting
• Not yet engaged in SGS volunteering or research activity
• Currently registered in accredited or non-accredited gynecology fellowship programs in the US or Canada

What is Covered

• Airfare reimbursement
• Meeting registration
• Hotel accommodations
• 1-year complimentary Associate Membership
• Registration to attend at least one postgraduate course
• Attendance at Senior Members Engaging Young Learners (SMEYL) Reception
• Participation in Fellows Pelvic Research Network (FPRN)® meeting
• Recognition at the SGS Awards Ceremony

• Meeting attendance: SGS Annual Scientific Meeting (typically spring)

Application Process

Required Materials:

1. Personal statement of interest (approximately 250 words) addressing:
   • Why you would like to be an SGS Fellow Scholar
   • How you plan to engage with SGS in return
   • How this opportunity might enhance your career path
   • Your expertise with social media
2. Abbreviated CV or bio-sketch
3. Letter of support from your program director

Scoring Criteria:

• Personal Essay
• Letter of Support
• Future potential with SGS

Timeline:

• Recipients announced: On or about February 1
