Federal Work-Study Program

Overview: A financial aid opportunity for students to work on campus while earning money to help pay for their education. The program is designed to enhance professional growth through on-the-job experience.

Geographic Scope: United States (federal program)

Award Details:

  • Pay rate equivalent to current Maryland minimum wage

  • Provides on-campus employment experience
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen

  • Enrolled in a degree or certificate program

  • Enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours per semester

  • Making satisfactory academic progress

  • Not in default on a previous student loan or owe any overpayments on a grant or loan

  • Be Pell eligible and have financial need
  • Alternative Campus Employment:
    Students may also be hired directly by departments on campus with these requirements:

  • U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen

  • Enrolled in an associate degree or certificate of proficiency program

  • Enrolled for a minimum of three (3) credit hours per semester

  • Making satisfactory academic progress (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0)

    Required Qualifications for Federal Work-Study:

  • U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen status

  • Active enrollment in degree or certificate program

  • Minimum 6 credit hours per semester

  • Satisfactory academic progress

  • Pell eligible with demonstrated financial need

  • No outstanding student loan defaults or grant/loan overpayments
  • Required Qualifications for Direct Campus Employment:

  • U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen

  • Enrollment in associate degree or certificate program

  • Minimum 3 credit hours per semester

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
