Federal Work-Study Program
Overview: Point Park offers Federal Work Study (FWS) jobs that provide work experience to full-time students. The government provides compensation for students who work within the University.
- Financial Need: Demonstrate financial need
- Enrollment Status: Enrolled for at least 12 credits (full-time)
- Academic Standing: Maintain good academic standing
- FAFSA: Complete a FAFSA form each year to maintain eligibility

- Compensation: $10.00 per hour, up to $3,200 per semester (total $9,600 for academic year)
- Positions: Limited and not guaranteed

- Clerical Assistant positions in various departments
- Exercise Floor Attendant in the Student Center
- Scene Shop Assistant, Costume Shop Assistant, Electrical Assistant, Usher, and Box Office Assistant at the Pittsburgh Playhouse
- Tour guide in the Admissions Office
- Library Assistant
- Off-campus positions at local non-profit organizations

How to Obtain a Federal Work-Study Position
#### New FWS Employees:
1. Complete Online Tutorial: Take tutorial on Schoology to learn about the program
2. Tutorial Content: Covers application process, obtaining tax forms, and viewing job directory
3. Timing: Tutorial available on Schoology for eligible students beginning the week prior to start of classes each semester
4. Workshops: Attend workshops during first week of classes
5. Required Materials: Tax forms and employment authorization/identity documents
#### Returning FWS Employees:
1. Complete New Application: Required each academic year whether new or returning
2. Complete Permit Form: Update student information
3. Complete Hiring Addendum: Verify eligibility and process for payroll
4. Department Transfer: If transferring to new department during academic year, complete new application and get approval before starting
