Federal S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Grant (S.T.O.P. VAWA)

The Federal S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Grant (S.T.O.P. VAWA) aims to enhance law enforcement and prosecution strategies to address violent crimes against women. Funding is allocated as follows: 25% for law enforcement, 25% for prosecution, 5% for courts, and 30% for nonprofit victim service organizations, with 15% discretionary. Eligible applicants include state and local governments, Native American tribes, and nonprofit organizations, with a 25% match required for most projects.

Purpose
To develop and strengthen effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies to combat violent crimes against women and to develop victim services in cases involving violent crimes against women. Grant funds must be distributed to sub-grant programs as follows:

• 25% of the funds for law enforcement agencies
• 25% for prosecution
• 5% to courts
• 30% for nonprofit victim service organizations
• The remaining 15% can be awarded at the state's discretion for allowable purposes.

Eligibility

Funds are available to units of state or local government, Native American tribes, nonprofit, and faith-based organizations. A 25% non-federal cash or in-kind match is required for all projects, with the exception of awards made to victim service organizations and tribes.
