  • - Spine biomechanics and surgery
    - Protein synthesis and metabolic disorders (diabetes, cancer)
    - Intracranial aneurysm rupture
    - Neuroimaging and peripheral nerve recovery
    - ALS/FTD (microglia-astrocyte crosstalk)
    - Glioblastoma and brain tumor imaging
    - Neurodegenerative diseases (dementia, Alzheimer's)
    - Precision glioma surgery

    Program Description:

  • Highly competitive awards

  • Allow trainees to develop and run their own research projects without going through lengthy external grant application processes

  • Trainees gain experience writing grant applications and developing budgets

  • Financial reporting experience required

  • Progress reports due at end of year to Department Chair

  • Led by Robert Bowser, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer and Chair of Translational Neuroscience
  • Geographic Scope: Arizona (Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix)
