FACF: Community Grants - General Community Grants

The Fremont Area Community Foundation offers General Community Grants to support nonprofit organizations addressing local needs in Newaygo County. These grants prioritize strategic programs in community development, education, and poverty reduction. Applications are accepted biannually, focusing on enhancing organizational capacity through general operating support or matching grants. However, the foundation does not fund individual grants, property purchases, or projects initiated prior to award notification. This initiative aims to empower nonprofits to effectively serve their communities.

Each year, we award a variety of grants to organizations throughout our community.
Our community grants are strategic and responsive, allowing us to partner with organizations and programs meeting critical local needs. Applications for community grants are accepted twice each year and align with one of our three focus areas—community development, education, and poverty reduction—and are more competitive when they fall within our general grantmaking guidelines.
General grants are available to nonprofit agencies seeking to increase their organizational strength. General operating support, matching grants, and projects that address community needs outside our focus areas fall under general grantmaking. In order for the Community Foundation to maximize grant dollars to reach our goals, programs that are strategic and aligned with our focus areas are given funding priority.

Eligibility

Who Can Apply501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizationsUnits of governmentEducational institutions (preschool through college)Organizations that are located in Newaygo County or directly serve the people of Newaygo County.

Ineligibility

Things Fremont Area Community Foundation typically will not fund:Grants to individuals, Purchase of property, Sponsorships of one-time or special events, Existing obligations, Religious  programing requiring affiliation and/or religious instruction, Projects that began prior to award notification.
