Executive Education Program in Strategic Leadership and Transformative Action (SLTA)

Program Background:
In partnership with The Fletcher School at Tufts University, FAITH launched the "Executive Education Program in Strategic Leadership and Transformative Action" (SLTA). Developed and led by Dr. Elizabeth Prodromou (The Fletcher School's Faculty Director of the Initiative on Religion, Law, and Diplomacy), the curriculum was designed to give clergy and laity foundational technical and intellectual tools for strategic management and leadership that can produce transformative action.

Curriculum Topics:

  • Strategic planning and management

  • Financial planning for non-profits

  • Leadership

  • Communication strategies

  • Religious literacy

  • Best practices and challenges in faith-based and non-profit organizations
  • Program Format:

  • 5-day intensive program at The Fletcher School

  • Customized executive-level lectures and workshops

  • Participation from clergy and lay people

  • Each participant develops an impact project addressing innovation, collaboration, and transformation within parishes and greater community

  • Certificate awarded from Office of Executive Education at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University
  • Past Programs:

  • 2020 Pilot: 20 clergy and lay people from the Metropolis of Chicago (January 2020)

  • 2021 Program: Offered to Metropolis of Boston participants (May 24-28, 2021)
  • Notable Outcomes:
    Participants have launched significant community initiatives including:

  • Project HOPE: Humanitarian Outreach and Philanthropic Engagement program supporting food security; serves 2,000+ families in Chicago area

  • Strengthen Stewardship Now: Metropolis-based stewardship program raising $250,000+

  • Communication and Technology: Parish livestreaming and virtual programming initiatives

  • Order of the Myrrhbearing Women: Recognition and promotion of women's voices in the Church

    Application Process

    2021 SLTA Program Details (Metropolis of Boston):

  • Dates: May 24-28, 2021

  • Application Deadline: March 12, 2021 (extended)
  • Required Application Component:

  • Each participant identifies an impact project to be developed during the program's duration

  • Impact projects should seek to usher in innovation, collaboration, and transformation within parishes and greater community

  • Examples of past impact projects:

  • - Modern communication technologies for community engagement
    - Cultural assimilation of Greek Orthodox architecture and education
    - Active community outreach
    - Stewardship programs
    - Technology accessibility in parishes
    - Women's ministry initiatives

    Program Completion:

  • Final presentations of each impact project
