East Texas Communities Foundation
East Texas Communities Foundation was founded in 1989 by visionary leaders who saw the need for a community foundation to serve the people and communities of East Texas. The strong leadership of early organizers like Isadore Roosth, Norman Shtofman, “Dub” Riter, and an investment of the United Way of Tyler/Smith County launched the Foundation. By 1994, the Foundation’s assets had grown to more than one million dollars.
East Texas Communities Foundation administers a variety of scholarships that have been established by generous individuals to assist students with their educational pursuits. Each scholarship expresses a deep belief in the power of education to help young people achieve their dreams.
Geoscience Scholarships: Natural Gas Society of East Texas Scholarship
Natural Gas Society of East Texas Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who has declared his major in the energy industry field. The recipient must be at least a sophomore at the time of application and must have declared his or her major to be in a field of study that directly relates to the energy industry.

Eligibility

Eligible majors may include one of many degrees offered in engineering or geosciences.Applicants must have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) in his or her undergraduate or graduate program.
