Environmental Fellowship Program Grant

The Environmental Fellowship Program offers an $80,000 stipend for five journalists to study at the University of Colorado, Boulder, for nine months. Participants will enhance their understanding of environmental issues through independent projects, classes, and seminars while enjoying the Rocky Mountains. The program is open to full-time journalists with at least five years of experience and a college degree, including international applicants who hold valid work visas.

The Ted Scripps Fellowships in Environmental Journalism offer $80,000 stipends to five journalism professionals for nine months of study at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
You’ll deepen your understanding of environmental issues, hone your craft, and enjoy a break from deadlines while living at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.
As a fellow, you’ll audit classes and pursue an independent project of your own design. You’ll also attend weekly seminars and participate in field trips to world-renowned institutions to learn what’s new in the realm of environmental science and policy.
Fellows receive a stipend of $80,000 and will travel (expenses paid) to the Society of Environmental Journalists annual conference. Five Ted Scripps Fellowships are awarded each year.

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to full-time journalists working in any medium who are interested in advancing their knowledge of environmental issues. It is aimed at outstanding journalists committed to a career in professional journalism.Applicants must have five years of full-time professional journalism experience and must also have a BA or BS college degree, at minimum. Applicants may include reporters, editors, producers, photojournalists, documentarians, and feature writers. Both salaried staff and full-time freelancers are welcome to apply. Prior experience in covering the environment is not required.Applications from international applicants;however, please be advised that you must hold a current visa and be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application to be considered for this position.
