Eligibility

Applicants must meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • An employee of EJCH (full- or regular part-time) for at least one year

  • The immediate family member of an EJCH employee

  • An active EJCH Auxilian who has completed a minimum of 100 hours during a one-year period

  • The immediate family member of a qualified Auxilian
  • Additional requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a health-related degree program at an accredited college, university, or technical school

  • Must submit applications at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the semester
  • Allowable Use of Funds

    • Tuition
    • Lab fees
    • Registration
    • Books
    • Special fees
    • Special equipment
    • Uniforms necessary for the course of study
    • Cannot be used for: Room and board

    Additional Details

    • Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the school
    • Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing
    • All selections by the Committee are considered final
    • A one-time Renewal Scholarship will be considered a year after the first Auxiliary Scholarship was awarded
    • Physical and occupational therapy applicants must furnish a letter of acceptance to a master's program

    Application Process

    Timeline: Applications are taken all year long. Submit at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the semester.

    Required Materials

    Applicants must provide:

    1. A completed scholarship application
    2. A short narrative essay stating:
    - Your career goals
    - The reason(s) you chose a health-related field of study
    3. Official transcript from the last educational institution attended
    4. Verification letter indicating:
    - Acceptance into a health-related program
    - Date of acceptance (month and year)
    - Proposed date of graduation (month and year)
    - Note: Physical and occupational therapy applicants must furnish a letter of acceptance to a master's program
    5. Two signed letters of recommendation:
    - On appropriate letterhead
    - In a sealed envelope
    - One should be from a teacher or supervisor
    6. A signed media release form and a self-portrait picture (for inclusion in volunteer newsletter and website)
