Emergency Readiness Fund

Overview: An integral part of United Way of the Wine Country's mission to help families and individuals improve financial stability. Donations made to the Emergency Readiness Fund are distributed as strategic grants to emergency readiness and response efforts across the five-county region.

Geographic Scope

Service Area: Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, and Sonoma counties

    Eligibility

    Eligible applicants include:
  • Organizations
  • Agencies
  • Collaborative programs
  • Entities committed to preparing for emergencies and/or responding to their broader impact

Funding Focus

Grants are awarded primarily to nonprofits providing equitable access to information and resources including financial assistance before, during, or after an emergency.

Types of Emergencies Supported:

  • Fires

  • Floods

  • Wind events

  • Power outages

  • Natural disasters

  • Human-made disasters

  • Pandemics

  • Industrial accidents

  • Associated economic impacts
  • Fund Status

    Donation Period: Donations to the fund from individuals, businesses, and other community-minded partners are accepted year-round. The funder recommends donations especially during the dry season to effectively plan, prepare, and respond.
