General Information

The Elsa Heisel Sule Foundation is an independent private Foundation philanthropic organization originally established in 2004 by Elsa M. Heisel Sule, a native of Northern Kentucky and businesswoman in the television industry.

The Foundation’s governing body meets three times during the year to review applications for grants during April, July and October. The Foundation staff maintains offices in Greater Cincinnati, a central point in the tri-state area it serves, of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.

Operations and Purpose

Grant Applications must be filed for each calendar year in which an organization desires a Grant of funds. Grants are usually awarded for one year unless specifically noted in writing as a multiyear grant or renewable.

Program Priorities and Objective

The Trustee of the Foundation was originally instructed by Elsa Sule to make grants in the Greater Cincinnati and tri-state area with a focus on Education, Community, and the Arts with the following areas of interests:

* Education Success and Scholarships
* Health, Wellness and Scientific Research
* Children’s Welfare and Competitive Sports
* Fine and Performing Arts and Cultural Vibrancy
* Civic Public Affairs
* Animal Welfare and Preservation
* Environmental and Community Stewardship

Eligibility

* An organization seeking funding must qualify under all these:
* Any 501(c)(3) organizations is welcome to apply as we have an open application process no prior approval is needed.
* Non profit must be using the Grant Funds to operate programs and benefit those within 70 miles of Downtown Cincinnati.
* Makes grants to qualified nonprofit organizations as defined by the Internal Revenue Service to carry out programs and projects of a charitable nature in the tri-state areas of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
* The foundation is committed to providing financial support to agencies whose operating budget does not exceed 10 million.

Ineligibility

* We will not consider funding for programs or projects that have already concluded.
* The foundation does not make grants for general operating expenses except for those embedded into a program or projects operating budget.
* We will not consider funding for any group that discriminates on the basis of age, color, race, nationality, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical ability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
* Organizations should not apply if their unrestricted endowment exceeds 12 million.
* If your organization has received funding for 3 consecutive calendar years, we ask that you not apply for 1 calendar year.
* If your organization has received funding totaling $20,000+ within the past 2 calendar years, we ask that you not apply for 1 calendar year
* We will not make grants to:
* Individuals
* Endowed Scholarships
* Conduit/Bundled regrants
