Elizabeth Yates Award

Geographic Scope: Greater Concord area, NH

Purpose

Honors Concord resident and children's author Elizabeth Yates, who was a strong advocate of reading and supported library programs in the Concord community during her lifetime. Given annually to a resident of the greater Concord area who is actively engaged in inspiring young people to read.

    Eligibility

  • Residents of the greater Concord area
  • Must be actively engaged in inspiring young people to read
  • May include: authors, illustrators, storytellers, teachers, librarians, or others involved in encouraging reading

Award Details

Award Amount: $500 worth of books to add to the Children's Room collection

Award Components:

  • Winner recommends $500 worth of books for the Children's Room collection

  • Each book bears a bookplate with the awardee's name

  • Winner's name is inscribed on the Elizabeth Yates Award plaque displayed in the Children's Room

  • Award is presented at a celebration at Concord Public Library
