Summary

The Electric Vehicle Fast Chargers Grant, provided by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, allocates approximately $1.89 million to install fast-charging stations in strategic locations throughout Minnesota. This initiative aims to facilitate long-distance travel for EV drivers and promote the adoption of electric vehicles, ultimately reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality, especially in communities disproportionately affected by vehicle pollution.

Overview

About Us The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is committed to ensuring that every Minnesotan has healthy air, sustainable lands, clean water, and a better climate. Through the authority of state and federal statutes and guidelines, the MPCA focuses on preventing and reducing the pollution of air, land, and water, and leads Minnesota’s efforts to protect against the devastating effects of climate change. We work with regulated parties, businesses, governments, organizations, and 11 Tribal Nations in Minnesota to develop innovative, community-centered approaches that protect our natural resources, improve human health, and foster strong economic growth. Electric Vehicle Fast Chargers Grant The MPCA has approximately $1.89 million available to install EV direct current fast-charging stations in public places in select Minnesota locations along key charging corridors. For the purpose of this request for proposal, roadways have been assigned into “EV corridors.” These fast-charging corridors along major roadways will allow eventual travel by EV drivers over long distances throughout the state, making it feasible for more Minnesotans to drive electric vehicles. The purpose of this program is to increase use of EVs in place of gas-powered cars to mitigate nitrogen oxides and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Minnesota. The intent is to support a healthy environment for all Minnesotans and achieve significant emissions reductions across the state, especially in those communities most impacted by vehicle pollution.
