About the Foundation Mission The mission of the AEESP Foundation is to improve the state of knowledge in environmental engineering and science through the support and encouragement of excellent education, outreach, and scientific research. Edward J. Bouwer/AEESP Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award This award is given annually to honor the excellent work done by an emerging researcher in the environmental engineering and science field to honor Prof. Edward J. Bouwer's legacy of research and mentorship. The award consists of a plaque and a cash prize of $1,500 for the student, and a plaque and a cash prize of $500 for the faculty advisor. A $750 travel allotment is provided to the student recipient if he or she attends the Awards Ceremony. A total allotment of $750 is also available to support travel of the faculty advisor to the Awards Ceremony, or may be shared by faculty co-advisors who attend the ceremony. Refer to the nomination package for the required submission requirements. Faculty advisors are encouraged to nominate dissertations completed under their supervision but must limit themselves to a single entry.Eligibility

Dissertations must have been from the previous calendar year, as per the cover page of the dissertation.One nomination per cycle for the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award category (comprising Jacobs, Roberts, and Bouwer Awards) may be submitted by a single nominator. Nominations need only be submitted once through the nomination links for any of these three awards, and will be automatically considered for all three awards during the review process. Complete nomination package includes: A nomination message to include items listed on the form below.A project summary written by the student, including an overview, the advancement of environmental science and engineering, and intellectual merit and broader impacts of the work (similar to an NSF proposal).
