Overview

Early Start Scholarship Program

Description: A scholarship program that allows 8th grade and above students, home-schooled students, and GED graduates to earn college credit.

    Eligibility

  • 8th grade and above students
  • Home-schooled students
  • GED graduates
  • Must complete Mohave College Admissions Process
  • Must meet placement requirements outlined in the Mohave College Catalog
  • Students under 18 must complete Request for Student Enrollment Under 18 Form
  • Arizona State Residency required (students are responsible for tuition difference if residency cannot be determined)

    Program Details

  • Available Period: Beginning 8th grade year through fall semester following high school graduation, without limit to number of credits
  • For GED Graduates: Can use scholarship for one calendar year starting the semester after GED completion
  • Eligible Courses: Any courses numbered 100 or higher
  • Coverage: Tuition and standard fees at in-state tuition rate
  • Student Responsibility: Course fees and books
  • Course Repetition: If unsuccessful in a course paid by Early Start Scholarship, student can repeat using Early Start funds

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Complete Mohave College Admissions Process
2. Meet placement requirements as outlined in the Mohave College Catalog
3. Meet with a Pathway Advisor on your local campus to:
- Determine eligibility
- Establish education goals
4. Pathway Advisor submits approval to Financial Aid Team for payment

Required Documentation by Student Type

High School Students:

  • Contact a Mohave College Pathway Advisor in your high school or Student Services staff on your local campus
  • Home-Schooled Students:

  • Contact a Mohave College Pathway Advisor on your local campus

  • Submit copy of Affidavit of Intent on file with County's Superintendent of Schools Office, OR

  • If unable to provide Affidavit and age 17+: letter from home school provider verifying grade level, OR

  • If under 17 and unable to provide Affidavit: copy of transcripts to verify grade level
  • GED Graduates:

  • Contact a Mohave College Pathway Advisor on your local campus

  • Submit either:

  • - Unofficial GED transcript, OR
    - Letter of recognition of completion

      Important Notes

    • All students must complete Mohave College Admissions Process
    • Students under 18 must also complete Request for Student Enrollment Under 18 Form
