Summary
The EA Infrastructure Fund Grant supports projects that enhance effective altruism by improving access to talent, capital, and knowledge. With grants typically ranging from $5,000 to $200,000, it welcomes applications from individuals, nonprofits, and academic institutions worldwide. However, individuals must ensure their projects conclude by August 31, 2025. The fund aims to amplify the impact of direct charitable work and foster a community committed to effective altruism principles.Overview
Note: Grantmaking Pause Update - As mentioned in our announcement of EA Funds’ merger with CEA, Effective Ventures and the Centre for Effective Altruism will be instituting a two-month pause on processing new EA Funds grant recommendations from 1 June - 31 July for operational reasons related to the spinout process. If your request is time-sensitive, please indicate your ideal decision date and explain the reason in your application. Grant requests submitted to EA Funds after 9 May will not be processed until at least 1 August.Important Note: The EA Infrastructure Fund is currently unable to make grants to individuals with an end date after August 31st 2025, and any applications from individuals to this fund must have a grant period which ends on or before this date. This does not affect applications for funding for charities, only applications for funding for individuals. We are working on a solution to this, and hope to be able to remove this restriction as soon as possible. If you were intending to apply for a grant past this date, you are welcome to apply for funding up until August 31st 2025, and once we’re able to make grants past this date again you will be able to apply again for the remaining period. This restriction does not apply to the Long-Term Future Fund or Animal Welfare Fund. EA Funds Grant Application Application Instructions and Information If you have a project you think will improve the world, and it seems like a good fit for one of our funds, we encourage you to apply. Grant sizes are typically between $5,000 and $200,000, but can be as low as $1,000 and higher than $500,000. EA Funds can make grants to individuals, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and other entities. You do not need to be based in the US or the UK to apply for a grant. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for a grant, please simply apply. We sometimes meet people who did not apply because they thought they would not be funded. Some of them eventually applied and were funded, despite their doubts, because we were excited by their projects. Applying is fast and easy; we really do encourage it! You can choose whether or not we write a public payout report about your grant; just select the corresponding option on our application form. We encourage you to apply if you have a preference for private funding. If you would like to be considered for funding by multiple funds, please submit separate applications for each fund, and make a note of this in the 'Alternatives to funding' section. EA Funds is always open to applications. Additional information about the EA Infrastructure Fund The Effective Altruism Infrastructure Fund recommends grants that aim to improve the work of projects that use the principles of effective altruism, by increasing their access to talent, capital, and knowledge. This includes a broad range of projects in global wellbeing (including animal welfare), longtermism, as well as cause-general work. While the other three funds support direct work on various causes, this fund supports work that could multiply the impact of direct work, including projects that provide intellectual infrastructure for the effective altruism community, run events, disseminate information, or fundraise for effective charities. This will be achieved by supporting projects that: Directly increase the number of people who are exposed to principles of effective altruism, or develop, refine or present such principlesSupport the recruitment of talented people who can use their skills to make progress on important problemsAim to build a global community of people who use principles of effective altruism as a core part of their decision-making process when deciding how they can have a positive impact on the worldConduct research into prioritizing between or within different cause areasRaise funds or otherwise support other highly-effective projectsImprove community health by promoting healthy norms for interaction and discourse, or assist in resolving grievancesEligibility
