Background

The CMAA-SAC Scholarship Foundation established the Dylan Thomas Memorial Scholarship to celebrate the life and preserve the memory of Dylan Thomas. Dylan was a 16-year-old Junior at Pike County High School who was tragically injured during a high school football game on September 28, 2018, and passed away on September 30, 2018.

Dylan's father, Darren Thomas, is a well-respected AEC Industry associate and Director of Physical Plant Operations at Clayton State University. Darren would bring Dylan to industry events and conferences to learn about the industry and spend quality time together. As a result, many industry associates knew Dylan and met him at industry functions over the years.

The scholarship honors Dylan and the entire Thomas family, supporting their initiative to create a lasting legacy for Dylan and recognizing individuals with exceptional character and an interest in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction industry.

Award

The Dylan Thomas Memorial Scholarship will be given to the top Graduate or Undergraduate candidate.
