Purpose: Recognition of meritorious service to the law and community by a South Carolina Bar member.

Award Significance: One of the most prestigious statewide honors that members of the Bar can bestow on a fellow attorney.
Eligibility:
- Living member of the South Carolina Bar
- Sitting judges and current public office holders are NOT eligible
- Past service in judicial/public office positions will be considered

- Recipients nominated by professional peers
- Selected by South Carolina Bar Foundation Board
- Award traditionally presented at Bar Convention's plenary luncheon each January
