Overview

Dr. Frank Groner Administrative Fellowship Program

Overview: An immersive, one-year training opportunity where fellows learn and work with executive-level leadership to develop the next generation of health care leaders.

Program Duration: Begins in June, completed in May of the following year (12 months)

Geographic Scope: Baptist Memorial Health Care system across a three-state region (Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee) including all 24 hospitals

Program Structure

The fellowship is configured into three phases:

Phase One: Corporate Offices

  • Learning about overall system management

  • Exposure to system support services including:

  • - Strategic planning
    - Operational management
    - Managed care
    - Finance
    - Human resources
    - Quality
    - Legal
    - Marketing
    - Government relations
    - Clinical service lines (cardiology, neurology, oncology, pediatrics, and more)

    Phase Two: Operating Entities

  • Experience across all 24 Baptist hospitals

  • Baptist Medical Group clinics (900+ providers)

  • Outpatient surgery and imaging centers

  • Home care and hospice

  • Emergency services

  • Telemedicine operations
  • Phase Three: Innovation and Leadership

  • Apply knowledge and develop management skills

  • Support and lead innovation teams

  • Active involvement in health system projects
  • Mentorship

    Primary Preceptors:

  • Jason Little, Chief Executive Officer

  • Zach Chandler, Chief Strategy Officer
  • Fellows work directly with these two executive leaders throughout the 12-month fellowship and receive additional mentoring from:

  • Senior Leadership Team members

  • Hospital and medical group CEOs

  • Corporate system services leaders
  • Outcomes

    Upon completion, fellows will have:

  • Broad and in-depth understanding of technical aspects of operating a comprehensive health care system

  • Leadership skills needed for transition into administrative health system leadership roles

  • Network with current and past fellows who have gone on to careers at prestigious systems across the U.S. and internationally
  • Location

    Memphis, Tennessee - Described as having big city living with small town feel, featuring culture, history, nightlife, arts, nature, and low cost of living
