Dr. Frank Groner Administrative Fellowship Program

Overview: An immersive, one-year training opportunity where fellows learn and work with executive-level leadership at Baptist Memorial Health Care. The fellowship is designed to develop the next generation of health care administrative leaders.

Program Duration: June through May of the following year

Program Location: Faith-based integrated comprehensive regional health care system across a three-state region (Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee) including:

  • 24 hospitals

  • Baptist Medical Group (900+ providers)

  • 200+ clinics

  • Outpatient services

  • Medical clinics

  • Telehealth services
  • Program Structure

    The administrative fellowship is configured into three phases:

    Phase 1: Corporate Office Orientation

  • Learn about overall system management

  • Focus on system support services including:

  • - Strategic planning
    - Operational management
    - Managed care
    - Finance
    - Human resources
    - Quality
    - Legal
    - Marketing
    - Government relations
    - Clinical service lines (cardiology, neurology, oncology, pediatrics, and others)

    Phase 2: Operating Entities Experience

  • Time spent in all 24 hospitals

  • Baptist Medical Group clinics with 900+ providers

  • Baptist outpatient surgery and imaging centers

  • Home care and hospice

  • Emergency services

  • Telemedicine operations
  • Phase 3: Leadership Application

  • Apply knowledge and develop management skills

  • Support and lead innovation teams

  • Active participation in health system projects
  • Mentorship

    Direct Preceptorship: Fellows work directly with two executive preceptors throughout the 12-month fellowship:

  • Jason Little - Chief Executive Officer

  • Zach Chandler - Chief Strategy Officer
  • Additional mentorship from:

  • Senior Leadership Team members

  • Hospital CEOs

  • Medical group CEOs

  • Corporate system service leaders
  • Upon Completion

    Graduates will have gained:

  • Broad and in-depth understanding of technical aspects of operating a comprehensive health care system

  • Leadership skills needed to transition into administrative health system leadership roles

  • Preparation for remarkable careers in health care administration
