Overview

Dr. Frank Groner Administrative Fellowship Program

Purpose: An immersive, one-year training opportunity for emerging healthcare leaders to learn and work with executive-level leadership in a comprehensive regional health care system.

Program Duration: One year, beginning in June and completing in May of the following year

Geographic Scope: Baptist Memorial Health Care system across Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee (24 hospitals across three-state region)

Overview: Fellows gain broad exposure to every aspect of a faith-based integrated comprehensive regional health care system, including:

  • Inpatient care and outpatient services

  • Medical clinics and telehealth

  • Corporate office operations
  • Program Structure - Three Phases:

      Phase 1: Corporate Learning

      Time spent in corporate offices learning about overall system management, including:
    • System support services
    • Strategic planning
    • Operational management
    • Managed care
    • Finance
    • Human resources
    • Quality
    • Legal
    • Marketing
    • Government relations
    • Clinical service lines (cardiology, neurology, oncology, pediatrics, etc.)

      Phase 2: Operating Entities Experience

      Frontline access to operations including:
    • All 24 Baptist hospitals
    • Baptist Medical Group clinics (900+ providers)
    • Outpatient surgery and imaging centers
    • Home care
    • Hospice
    • Emergency services
    • Telemedicine

    Phase 3: Leadership Application

    Fellows apply knowledge and develop management skills by supporting and leading innovation teams through active projects

    Learning Outcomes: Upon completion, graduates will have:

  • Broad and in-depth understanding of technical aspects of operating a comprehensive health care system

  • Leadership skills needed to transition into administrative health system leadership role
  • Mentorship: Direct mentorship from Baptist's Chief Executive Officer (Jason Little) and Chief Strategy Officer (Zach Chandler), plus executive leaders throughout the health care system

    Legacy: Previous fellows have gone on to careers in health care and hospital administration at prestigious systems throughout the U.S. and world
