About the Foundation The Lucille and John B. Dougherty Charitable Trust was established under the Last Will and Testament of Anna Lucille Dougherty. Miss Dougherty was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 13, 1911 to Dr. Emmett Parnel Dougherty and Woodie Bennett Dougherty. Miss Dougherty, or “Tissie,” as she was affectionately known to many, was a longtime resident of the Bryan, Texas community and worked as an accountant for the City of Bryan until her retirement. She loved her friends, her community, and her church, First United Methodist Church of Bryan, and she was passionate about education. Miss Dougherty passed away on November 16, 2006. Both of her parents preceded her in death, as well as her stepfather, David Mitchell Mike, and her brother, John Bennett Dougherty. Grant Guidelines The Lucille and John B. Dougherty Trust awards grants to specific charitable organizations named by the donor, as well as other worthy charitable causes in the areas of education, health, and human services, There are no geographic limitations; however, the trust primarily supports organizations located in and serving the residents of Brazos County, Texas.
