Destination Disaster Recovery Fund

Overview: Previously focused on restoring and rebuilding tourism resources and infrastructure impacted by disasters. Strategy revolved around recovery investments to rebuild tourism assets and help bring back quality of life at a destination once tourism begins to recover.

  • Background: After Hurricane Maria devastated the Caribbean, Tourism Cares launched a fundraising campaign to aid tourism recovery to more than a dozen organizations throughout the islands. Example grantee: My Brother's Workshop in the USVI, which provides mentoring, counseling, paid job training, education, and job placement to at-risk and high-risk young people.
