Overview

The Delta Gamma Foundation makes national Service for Sight grants to organizations whose programs benefit people living with blindness or low vision. In the 2026 fiscal year the Foundation awarded $500,000 to 49 national organizations.

The program funds:

  • Programs that support education and research involving sight preservation.
  • Detection and early intervention for conditions affecting vision.
  • Resources, tools, technology, experiences and support that enhance quality of life for people living with blindness or low vision.
  • Vision-related public awareness and advocacy.

The committee and the Foundation prioritise programs that directly benefit individuals living with blindness or low vision, and programs that benefit the greatest number of people in the most impactful ways. Because of budget limits, not all qualified proposals receive grants and not all awards are approved at the amount requested; past recipients are not guaranteed ongoing funding. Organizations approved for funding are notified each spring.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted online through SmarterSelect. The application is posted on the Service for Sight Grants page from October 1 each year, and the annual deadline is December 1 at 11:59pm ET. Applications received after the published deadline are not considered.

Applicants must be:

  • Based in a country with Delta Gamma collegiate chapters or alumnae groups — the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom — and awarded funds must remain in those countries.
  • A 501(c)(3) organization (US), a Canadian Registered Charity, or a Charitable Incorporated Organization (UK).
  • Compatible in mission and program purpose with the Service for Sight grants program.
  • National in scope, or available to individuals on a nationwide basis.

The application must include the organization's mission statement; its most current and previous year's audited financial statement (990, T3020 or UK equivalent); a detailed description of the program; a detailed budget for the exact use of funds; the number of individuals expected to benefit; a timeline showing all funds used within one year of receipt; and specifics of how the organization would recognise the Delta Gamma Foundation.

The Foundation does not fund programs that are local or single-state in scope; general operating expenses or staff salaries outside delivery of the proposed program; regranting or donations to another organization; programs completed before the grant is awarded; political activities; programs promoting religious activities; programs inconsistent with non-discrimination law; more than one request from the same organization; or debt financing. Funds may not be used for administrative salaries, overhead or fundraising.

An organization that received a Service for Sight Grant in the previous year must file its Grant Outcome Report online, ideally before submitting a new request and no later than the December 1 deadline. Questions: grants@deltagamma.org.
