Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County Mission The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County, Inc. encourages philanthropy, assists donors in building an enduring source of charitable assets, and exercises leadership in directing resources to enhance the quality of life for residents of Muncie and Delaware County. Vision To impact and empower Muncie and Delaware County by enabling philanthropy as a trusted community leader and promoting positive change now and for generations to come. David Sursa Leadership Award Every community benefits from leaders who understand local issues and are able to visualize and promote positive change. The David Sursa Leadership Award recognizes these leaders in our community. As inaugural Board President of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, David Sursa blazed a trail for the work and impact of the Foundation in the community. Mr. Sursa served in this role for the first seven years of the organization's history. His visionary leadership contributed greatly to the success of the Foundation and to the generous support it has provided to our community since the Foundation’s inception in 1985. Mr. Sursa has been described as a quiet leader. He set an example through his acts of service to others and the professionalism he brought to everything he did. He led with integrity and inspired many others to do the same. He is remembered for his passion in business and the connection that it has on service in the community. The David Sursa Leadership Award was established in memory of David Sursa’s outstanding contribution to The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County. The purpose of the award is to reward, recognize, and encourage extraordinary leadership by a nonprofit board member displaying the characteristics and commitment to the community exhibited by David Sursa during his lifetime.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Nominees must live or work in Delaware County and his/her service must benefit Delaware County.  A $2,500 award will be given, in the recipient’s honor, to the nominating organization.
