Through partnerships and collaboration, Lincoln Community Foundation facilitates positive change for the common good. Since 1955, we have been privileged to be part of many wonderful legacies by connecting donor generosity to local needs. LCF serves as a faithful steward for many types of philanthropic gifts and helps donors create lasting legacies of giving. With gifts of all sizes from thousands of donors over the years, the assets of LCF have grown to more than $270 million. Scholarships Generous donors to Lincoln Community Foundation have established 90 scholarship funds that benefit students in Lancaster County and across the state of Nebraska. For 2025, there were 299 scholarship recipients who received awards that totaled over $606,000. Dale E. Siefkes Memorial Scholarship The Dale E. Siefkes Memorial Scholarship was established in 1996. Dale Siefkes had a passion for education. His wife, Viola, wanted to establish a living legacy to assist students who have that same passion. Dale graduated from Filley High School in Filley, Nebraska, in 1956. He attended UNL and eventually received his Ph.D. in education. Dale held administrative positions in several Nebraska schools serving as principal for six years and superintendent for 13 years. Beginning in 1979, Dale was a research analyst for education in the Legislature. From 1984 until his death in 1994, Dale served as executive director of the School Board Association. To apply, you must be a junior or senior level college student during the upcoming academic year at a Nebraska college pursuing a career in Education. Preference will be given to students attending smaller Nebraska 4-year colleges. The applicant must have a scholastic equivalency of 3.8 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate financial need.Eligibility
