D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant Program (DC TAG)

Award Amount: Up to $10,000 per academic year; with a maximum of five award years, this grant can amount to $50,000 lifetime

Funder: District of Columbia

Eligibility:

  • Must be a Washington, D.C. resident

  • Must have lived in the District of Columbia for at least 12 months prior to the beginning of freshman year of college

  • Must have graduated from high school or received a G.E.D. on or after January 1, 1998

  • Must have begun freshman year of college within three years of graduating from high school
  • How It Works: DC TAG pays the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition up to $10,000 a year, allowing you to attend any public institution in the nation as if you are a resident of the school's state.

    Application Process: Students should submit a copy of their eligibility determination letter from D.C. TAG to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. Students must re-apply for the grant each year.
