CSNK2A1 Pilot Grant Program

Funder: CSNK2A1 Foundation, in collaboration with the Orphan Disease Center

Geographic Scope: Open to faculty-level investigators at academic or non-profit institutions (location not restricted)

Purpose: To fund one pilot project to advance understanding of Okur-Chung Neurodevelopmental Syndrome (OCNDS) and support therapeutic development.

Award Amount: Up to $50,000 for 1 year

Research Focus Areas

Projects must be relevant to CSNK2A1 biology and OCNDS and align with one or more of the following:

  • Disease Mechanisms: Variant-level biology, CK2 function, and cellular or molecular pathways
  • Biomarkers: Discovery or validation of molecular, physiological, or digital biomarkers to support trial readiness
  • Therapeutics: Drug repurposing, gene/RNA-based strategies, or pathway-targeted approaches

Community-prioritized domains include communication, cognition, sleep, and anxiety.

Eligibility

  • Open to faculty-level investigators or senior researchers at academic or non-profit institutions
  • No prior CSNK2A1 experience required

Important Notes

  • No indirect costs funded: The CSNK2A1 Foundation does not fund indirect costs (overhead or F&A costs). All grant funds must be allocated exclusively toward program expenses essential for grant execution and directly aligned with project objectives.
  • All research proposals are reviewed by the Chief Scientific Officer and Scientific Advisory Board
  • Proposals are evaluated based on: research objectives, investigator's expertise, and the project's potential to accelerate treatment development
