Organization: Fund for Constitutional Government in partnership with Columbia Journalism Review

Overview: The Covering Climate Now Journalism Awards is an annual awards program recognizing outstanding journalism on climate change from journalists throughout the world.

Geographic Scope: International (worldwide submissions welcome)

Eligibility:

  • Journalists from any outlet worldwide

  • News outlets are not required to be CCNow partners to participate

  • Work must have been published, broadcast, or otherwise released during the calendar year prior to submission

  • No entry fee
  • Award Categories:

  • Writing (Short- and Long-form, Newsletters, Commentary)

  • Audio (Short- and Long-form, Radio or Podcast Series)

  • Video (Short- and Long-form, Documentary)

  • Multimedia

  • Photography

  • Judging: Panel of distinguished journalists from around the world, including winners from previous years

    History: Third annual awards as of 2023. Previous awards (2021-2022) honored work from 74 countries by journalists at major outlets including the Guardian, Reuters, AFP, CNN, PBS NewsHour, Al Jazeera, Channel 4 (UK), Los Angeles Times, TIME, Rolling Stone, The Nation, Grist, Post and Courier, and The New Humanitarian. Winners of 2022 awards were featured in "Burning Questions," a TV special hosted by Al Roker and Savannah Sellers, broadcast on PBS's WORLD Channel and streamed on YouTube.
